Blindfolds in Darkrooms: Are Jewish Reporters Too Controversial to Defend?

Let’s stop the semantic tap-dance. When a lawyer, columnist, & political candidate all call to “globalize the intifada”, directed at Jews in Canadian newsrooms, they aren’t asking for editorial shifts. They’re placing targets on Jewish journalists, whether intentionally or not.

We know what “intifada” means. We’ve seen the bus bombings & the bodies; we know the body counts. To suggest it’s just a “shaking off” in 2025 isn’t just a lie—it’s an act of malice. This isn’t a theory; it’s a threat – & it’s been proven explicitly.

From the Bondi Beach massacre to Toronto a terror cell targeting Jews, the normalization of hate is trending on your feed in real-time. It’s 1938 in 280 characters & often livestreamed.

But the real rot? The silence. Where are the orgs that represent & advocate for journalists & media broadly? You usually scream bloody murder if a politician looks at a reporter sideways. Why are you suddenly out of breath? It’s like everyone is wearing a blindfold in a darkroom.

Your silence is a roar, and its deafening. It’s a gutless admission that Jewish journalists are a “complicated” liability not worth the price of a press release. Many have decided that Jewish safety is an inconvenience that could be bad for their brands.

This is how it starts. Not with grand genocidal plans, but with the institutions built to protect the truth deciding that some truths – and some lives – are “too controversial” to defend.

To those in Canadian media advocacy: Your silence is seen. You are seen. You are signaling to every extremist that it’s open season Jews in media. We see the cowardice. We see the betrayal.

We aren’t waiting for your permission to exist, and we sure as hell aren’t waiting for your protection to speak. We’re here and you’re going to have to accept it. And if you won’t speak up, get out of the way. We’ll do so ourselves.
