The CJN’s readers shared their pictures of Hanukkah around the world.

In the wake of the horrific terror attack that saw 15 Jews massacred and over 40 injured in Sydney, Australia, at a public Hanukkah menorah lighting on Bondi Beach on Dec. 14, many Canadians defiantly showed up to public Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremonies and displayed hanukkiyot in their windows.
The CJN put out a call asking for photos of people proudly celebrating Hanukkah this year, to showcase Canadian Jewish resilience, joy, and celebration.
Photos and stories arrived in The CJN’s inbox from Alberta, British Columbia, Montreal, Toronto, London, Ottawa, Hamilton, and Georgina, Ont.; as well as from Boston, Florida, Mexico, and Jerusalem.
The very first submission received, Jon Liedtke’s photo from Windsor, Ont., shows the first night of Hanukkah with a menorah lit at night along the Detroit River, overlooking the water and across to the city lights.
