As we enter 5786, we honour 200+ years of Windsor’s Jewish community: from the fur trader Moses David to immigrant families who established our permanent community with formal organization in the late 1800s: their legacy is our strength.
From the establishment of the first minyan in the 1890s, our community, like all Jewish communities, has been defined by resilience in the face of adversity & strength in the face of sorrow. We pray for a year of safety & peace for all.
The journey from a trader to a thriving Federation shows our community’s triumph. As we dip apples in honey, we reaffirm our commitment to our founders to actively fight antisemitism & champion unity. May 5786 bring continued growth.
This Rosh Hashanah, we continue to carry the memory of those lost on and since October 7th & those still held captive. May the memories of the lost forever be a blessing and may the remaining hostages be let free. #LetThemGoNow
Shanah Tovah U’Metukah! May the new year be sweet and strong for Windsor’s Jewish community and all Jews globally, as we locally reflect on 135+ years of formal organization and the enduring spirit that began long before. Here’s to writing the next chapter together.
