AM800 News: POSITIVE REACTION FOR A REPORT DEALING WITH LEGALIZATION OF RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA

AM 800 News – Rob Hindi – Dec 14 2016

The co-owner of Higher Limits in Windsor is giving a thumbs-up to a report on legalizing recreational marijuana.

Jon Liedtke, who is also a member of the Canadian Cannabis Confederation, says he pleased with most of the report’s 80 recommendations including storefront and mail-order sales to Canadians 18 years and older and a four-plant limit for home-growers. “I wasn’t expecting just a comprehensive nor progressive document to be completely honest.  It seems like they really took an evidence based approach here and saw what worked in other jurisdictions and what didn’t work and put together a 80 recommendations, over 111 pages.”

“Windsor will benefit from legalizing recreational marijuana” says Liedtke. “You can look across the border, there’s 10 of millions Michigander’s, Ohioites and Illinois residents who are very close by who are going to want to come here and try this substance for the first time, it’s going to be legal. The cats out of the bag so how do we embrace this, how do we most capitalize on it, how do we ensure that Windsor is well positioned to benefit the most from this.”

Other recommendations say pot should not be sold in the same location as alcohol or tobacco and and call for further study on pot-impaired driving.
