Will recently-arrived Syrian refugees enjoy the neo-soul sound of The Walkervilles or the ska-punk sound of The Nefidovs?
Whether or not they do, the two local bands are teaming up for a show to benefit the refugees and their resettlement process here in Windsor.
“We’re going to be open to them, with wide and open arms,” said Jon Liedtke, trumpet player for The Nefidovs and director of business development for the Windsor Independent, which is presenting the concert next Monday (Jan. 18) at the Dominion House (3140 Sandwich St.).
Doors open 7 p.m. and the concert begins 8 p.m., 19 and older.
The suggested donation at the door is $10.
Proceeds will go to Windsor Women Working With Immigrant Women.
“They’re going to put the money towards Windsor welcoming gift baskets (for refugee families),” Liedtke said.

Although all are welcome to attend the show and enjoy the music, Liedtke said any refugees who attend will be treated to free food from Dominion House.
“We’d love to see them, we’d love to say hi,” Liedtke said.
But Liedtke said he understands if going to a bar at night isn’t necessarily something a newly-arrived refugee family wants to do.
