Stormy Daniels, the American porn star at the centre of a scandal and lawsuits involving U.S. President Donald Trump, will be making an appearance in Windsor next month.
A Stormy Night in Windsor will see Daniels appearing at two local venues, Higher Limits Cannabis Lounge and Cheetah’s of Windsor adult entertainment club on June 13, it was announced Monday.
“It came together about two weeks ago and we’ve been working on this for about four months now,” said Jon Liedtke, co-owner of Higher Limits.
“Lots in trying to secure this, obviously one of the most notable figures in politics and entertainment right now,” Liedtke said. “An opportunity presented itself … When the moment hit, we struck and everything went according to plan.”
Daniels exploded to national fame in the U.S. in recent months amid news reports of a 2006 one-night stand with Trump and a $130,000 payout as part of a pre-election nondisclosure agreement that may have violated campaign finance laws.
While Daniels makes frequent appearances at strip clubs, her Windsor appearance will be different, Liedtke said.
“What we wanted to have at Higher Limits was a very limited and moderated conversation where we give one of the most recognizable faces in politics an opportunity to tell her story — the story behind the scenes,” he said.
“Everyone knows what she does for a living, the fact of the matter is she’s one of the top in the business — she’s not just an actress, she’s also a director — but beyond that she’s branched out. She’s been in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, she was in Knocked Up with Steve Carell and Seth Rogen, she ran for the senate as a Republican.”
And of course, she’s been in the news with the current legal dispute with the U.S. president.
“We’re very excited to provide people a different experience than what they’re used to with her, because she won’t be doing what she is traditionally known for.”
The legal capacity is between 400 and 425 at Higher Limits, where it will be standing-room-only. Liedtke said the event at Cheetah’s will be more of a meet-and-greet affair.
Monday’s announcement came just two days after Daniels made an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
“It worked out well for us, generally speaking,” Liedtke said.
“She just did a special guest appearance on Saturday Night Live on Saturday night, and that was unknown to us … We were planning on announcing this today so when she showed up on Saturday Night Live it was music to our ears, for sure.”
Liedtke said Daniels is committed to exposing the truth about her experiences and that will be the focus of her Windsor appearance.
“To us this is strong, it’s about women’s empowerment, it’s about standing up against bullying and it’s about providing our customers and Windsor as a whole one amazing show here,” Liedtke said.
Daniels will be appearing at Higher Limits from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at Cheetah’s from 9 to 10:30 p.m. and one ticket provides admission to both shows.
