DAY 2: #YQGCovid-19

Day two has started with the ferocity felt at the end of day 1 with more businesses and organizations closing and cancelling events.

There has been no updates regarding local cases of cornavirus or COVID19 as of 10:30AM, which means the Windsor and Essex County case count still sits at 0.

Closures (temporary?):

A reputable source with a wife at FCA WAP tells me: FCA Windsor Assembly idle since midnights; day hasn’t begun yet as of 10:30AM. Employees scared due to “diagnosed” employee spouse. “They had cleaners with hazmat suits…It’s pure panic. Ministry came in & gave the all clear but people still refused [work]”. #YQGCovid19

Policy Changes:

CBC Windsor reported that St. Clair College would be moving to online only classes following March Break, starting March 23 2020, indefinitely. (The University of Windsor announced a search to find alternatives to face-to-face learning.)

Chapter Two Brewing Company announced on their Facebook page that the craft brewery is cancelling its growler refill program.

Event Cancellations & Postponements:

Windsor Essex Employment Group announced on Twitter the postponement of their Business to Business: Hiring Practices that Maximize Business Performance event scheduled March 24 2020.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority announced on Facebook the cancellation of the Maple Moon event scheduled March 17 2020.

Magna Integram Windsor Seating shutdown since yesterday noonish following a supplier who had an employee that was either symptomatic or tested positive.

FCA WAP work refusal: from reputable employee source: Big issue: Transmissions from Kokomo where confirmed case of virus identified. FCA can’t confirm how long COVID-19 survives on surfaces. Ministry said “low risk”. Workers said still a risk & work refusal continues.

@UWindsor suspends all University-sponsored travel to China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Italy, Singapore, South Korea, and Spain, including “research placement, field courses, conference travel, or any other travel” previously approved, authorized, or supported.

Trudeau announces fiscal stimulus due to Canada’s strong economic position to help Canadians pay rent, mortgages, food, childcare during these trying times.

FCA says no cases at WAP, Ministry confirmed safe environment, seeking to restart operations.

Windsor Chief Medical Officer: all events in Windsor over 250 attendees SHOULD be cancelled. Does not emphasize a mandatory cancellation.

Windsor Symphony Orchestra cancelled all events from March 14-30 to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), including Youth Orchestras, Community Orchestra, chorus, & Neighbourhood Concert Series. March 14 performance Livestreamed.

South Windsor School of Music implements new #yqgcovid19 policies for students, parents, teachers, and staff.
