02/03/17 – Social Media Roundup w/ Jon Liedtke

Join me as I try to make sense of the news & BS that seeks to blind us, or just me,  far too often, from home to far away.

Good evening,

This is my first post in a series of posts that will focus on the news of the day that I come across from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and the world around us. These are stories that I come across on social media, and I’m not claiming whatsoever to be producing a compendium of every story that happens; this is just a place for me to share and organize my thoughts, provide some insights where possible, and more than likely some criticisms as well. I’m not going to share everything that I’ve put on my social media pages either, just the news for the most part, and a funny picture or video I’d imagine – we’ll see how this grows!
EDIT: I’ll probably be adding to the post after it’s made as there will be more stuff to add to it.

Consider following me on Facebook if you’re interested in seeing all of my posts or interacting with me there!

Musings on Trumpland: The Trump and Russia Scandal will probably take up a lot of space on these posts. The reason? What’s going on is legitimately way too ludicrous to even be pitched for a Hollywood movie. As such, I want to chronicle it in hopes that I can write the first screenplay. (Note: I do not know how to write a screenplay. If you do, hit me up. JK – unless you’re really good at writing screenplays.)

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (Jeff Sessions), the Attorney General of the United States of America:
The day began with both Democrats and Republicans calling on Sessions to either recuse himself from Trump campaign investigations and any investigations into Russia, or to resign from his position.

The reason? News broke that he had “lied under oath” to Congress. Sessions had spoke twice to the Russian ambassador to the U.S. during the 2016 Presidential Campaign; a contradiction according to his testimony to Congress. (Note: You don’t want to lie to Congress; it’s call perjury, and it’s kind of a big deal!)

As of 7:00 p.m., Sessions announced he would recuse himself from investigations into Russian interference in the election. [The Guardian]

West Wing Coming Back? Yes Please! I’ve watched the entire West Wing series probably about five times. It’s a show I’ll always go back to when my faith in democracy starts to waiver. The Bartlett Administration, with all of its characters, quirks, heights and pitfalls, and of course the Walk-and-Talk, is one of my favourite happy places.

AWESOME:

Well hey, you made it to the end! Thanks for reading. I’m looking forward to growing this blog, and I’ll be seeing you tomorrow!
